Bio by Kyle Coia: I started competing in triathlons in 2009 with my first triathlon being an indoor triathlon in Pleasant Prairie, WI. Soon after, I completed my first outdoor triathlon in Racine, WI and have been hooked since. In 2010 I completed one sprint, one olympic, and one half ironman triathlon with several running races throughout the season. 2011 was a season focused on olympic distance races along with many running events. In October 2011 and unfortunately, a second time in April 2012 I ended up with stress fractures in my right hip. Late 2012 and 2013 were all focused on getting back in form from the injuries and trying to get everything running again; despite being hampered with stomach problems from medication side effects from the bone medicines I was prescribed to help prevent future hip fractures. 2013 ended up being a decent year with a personal best in the half marathon distance (1:38:02). Looking forward now to 2014 and my first marathon (actually 2 are planned) to continue preparing for a full ironman at 23.
